About Our Preschool

Welcome! We are a licensed Edmonton preschool located in Calvary Community Church.

At MCSS Preschool we believe that each child is a unique creation of God, full of potential, to be treated with love, care and respect. It is our goal to encourage a healthy self-concept for each child, a love for the Lord, and an excitement and joy for learning.

We believe that parents are the primary teachers in the lives of young children and consider it a joy and privilege to share in this responsibility during these very important early years.

Our Philosophy is Learning Through Play. Our program is designed to stimulate a child's physical, mental, creative, social, and emotional development while maintaining a strong spiritual emphasis throughout the curriculum.

The program is designed to stimulate each child to grow in the following areas:

  • Spiritual - To know God, His Word and His Son as a part of his/her daily experience.  To share Bible stories, worship songs, and prayer.
  • Physical - To help each child to develop gross and fine motor skills and to learn health and safety rules.
  • Mental/Intellectual - To develop a positive outlook towards school and learning.  To foster curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving abilities; and to achieve new skills.

  • Creative - To allow children to create, explore, invent, and learn through the use of Learning/Play Centres.
  • Social - To help children learn to express themselves in socially acceptable ways, to accept others in expression and reflection of Jesus.  To develop healthy relationships with other children, as well as adults.
  • Emotional - To encourage children to feel good about themselves as special beings and know that they were created in God's image.
